This money saving alternate replacement circuit board is for replacing Balboa 53215 circuit boards having a SAR200R3(x) chip number.

The Balboa 53215 SAR200R3(x) circuit boards are also found in hot tubs made by Saratoga Spas and possibly others.

Tip: The "(x)" shown above is shorthand for a range of last letters on SAR200R3 chip numbers this alternate replacement circuit board can replace.

Cross Reference Verification
Step 1 of 2:
Tip: Locate the serial number on the old circuit board being replaced.
Tip: The serial number is on a sticker on the old circuit board (not the box).
Tip: The serial number is shown on the sticker preceded by S/N or P/N (part number).
Tip: The image above shows an example of a serial number sticker (click image to enlarge it).

Verify the serial number on the old circuit board being replaced is in this list.

Step 2 of 2:
Tip: Locate the chip number on the circuit board you are replacing.
Tip: The whole chip number is on a sticker located on the circuit board (not the box).
Tip: This is a different sticker than the serial number sticker.
Tip: The chip number sticker usually has two lines of text and the top line is the whole chip number (the bottom line is not needed).

Verify the chip number on the circuit board being replaced placed is in this list.

Additional Cross Ref., Compatibility & Installation
ATTENTION: Jet pump 1 and jet pump 2 become single speed pumps if the system also has a circulation pump.
If the system does not have a circulation pump then jet pump 1 can operate two speeds and jet pump 2 operates with one speed.

If the system has an electric air blower, it will operate on one speed.

This replacement also supports an ozonator and a spa light (standard light or fiber optic).

Circuit Boatd Jumper Pin Set Up:

For systems with a circulation pump, set jumper J6 with the sleeve covering both pins.

For systems with ONE jet pump, set jumper J10 on both pins.
For systems with TWO jet pumps&344; set jumper J10 on one pin (doesn't matter which pin).

Jumper J7 (this is a 3 pin jumper):
For 6-Button control panels: Set sleeve on two pins of side 'B'
For 7-Button control panels: Set sleeve on two pins of side 'B'
For 8-Button control panels: Set sleeve on two pins of side 'A'

For a standard spa light, set jumper J17 on one pin (doesn't matter which pin).
For a fiber optic spa light, set jumper J17 on both pins.

When changing the above settings it is best to reset the battery back up.

Battery back up reset instructions:
Turn power OFF.
Set jumper J36 sleeve on both pins.
Turn power ON.
Wait 30 seconds.
Turn power OFF.
Wait 30 seconds again.
Put jumper J36 sleeve on one pin.
Turn power ON.
Battery back up has now been reset.

If you completed the instructions above and if the topside control panel doesn't function, then the topside is probably defective and should probably be replaced too.

Please give us a call if you need a new topside control panel.
Tip: When replacing a hot tub circuit board, testing the heater and replacing it (if bad), is recommended before installing or applying voltage on a new circuit board.
Note: A continuity test is not a sufficient heater test. Contact us by phone for more details on testing a heater.

Tip: Burned circuit boards or burned heater relays are often due to a loose electrical connection or a bad heater or both.
If all connections are tight and if the heater is good then the heater relays are probably old and worn out.
If a burned relay was powering a pump and all electrical connections are tight then the relay is probably old and worn out or the pump might be bad or going bad or all three.
Replacing the heater and/or pump with a new one is recommended if any of those scenarios apply.
